This Privacy Policy applies to the Water Usage Tracking Android application ("App"), published on the Google Play Store. By installing or using the App, you agree to the terms described in this policy.
This policy is written to comply with Google Play Console requirements, including Google's Developer Distribution Agreement, Developer Program Policies on user data, and applicable privacy legislation including GDPR and CCPA.
App Overview
Water Usage Tracking is a free Android utility for smart irrigation and water monitoring. It lets you track your tank fill level, log daily consumption, set low-water alerts, and review usage history — entirely offline, with no account needed.
The App is available on the Google Play Store for devices running Android 6.0 (API 23) or higher.
Information We Collect
Water Usage Tracking does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. The only data handled by the App is operational data you enter directly, stored locally on your device via Android SharedPreferences:
The App requests no Android permissions that access personal data. It does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, GPS location, SMS, or external storage.
How We Use Your Data
All data stored by the App is used solely to operate the features visible to you on your device:
- Displaying your current water level on the Dashboard and Water Level screens
- Rendering the animated circular fill indicator with the correct percentage
- Showing colour-coded daily usage entries in the Usage History screen
- Triggering visible alert banners when the level drops below your configured threshold
- Persisting your preferences (dark mode, alert toggle, threshold) between app sessions
Data Storage & Local Persistence
The App uses Android SharedPreferences — a sandboxed, device-local key-value store — to persist your data between sessions. The exact keys stored are:
- Device-only: Data lives inside your device's secure app sandbox, inaccessible to other apps
- No cloud sync: Data is never uploaded to any server or cloud service
- No network: The App makes zero network requests at any time
- App-scoped: Data is deleted automatically when you uninstall the App
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not share, sell, rent, trade, or disclose any user data to any third party under any circumstances. This is architecturally enforced — the App has no mechanism to transmit data off your device.
We never share user data with:
- Advertising networks or marketing platforms
- Analytics or business intelligence services
- Data brokers or aggregators
- Government or law enforcement (we hold no data to disclose)
- Any other third party for any purpose whatsoever
Third-Party Services & SDKs
Water Usage Tracking does not integrate any third-party SDK or service that collects or transmits user data. The App does not include:
- Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or any analytics SDK
- Facebook SDK, Meta Pixel, or any advertising framework
- Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, or any crash reporting service
- Google AdMob or any advertising SDK
- Any social login, OAuth, or authentication SDK
- Any push notification service (e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging)
- Any external API that sends or receives user data
The App is built with the Flutter framework and uses the
shared_preferences
plugin for local storage. Neither Flutter nor this plugin transmits data externally.
Data Security
All data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted, so security depends on your device's own protections. Android provides:
- App sandboxing — each app's data is isolated and inaccessible to other apps at the OS level
- Full-device encryption, enabled by default on Android 10+ devices
- Permission enforcement — the App only accesses what it declares in its manifest (no sensitive permissions)
We recommend keeping your device updated with the latest Android security patches and using a screen lock for additional protection.
Data Retention & Deletion
Data remains on your device until you delete it. You have full, immediate control:
- Delete individual records: Tap the delete icon on any entry in the Usage History screen
- Clear all history: Use "Clear All" in the Usage History screen to erase all records at once
- Reset all app data: Go to Android Settings → Apps → Water Usage Tracking → Storage → Clear Data
- Uninstall: Removing the App permanently deletes all associated data — no recovery is possible
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Water Usage Tracking is a general-purpose utility not directed at children. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, in compliance with COPPA and Google Play's Families Policy.
Because the App collects no personal data from any user, it presents no special privacy risk to children. The App contains no advertising, in-app purchases, or social features.
If you believe a child has used this App and have concerns, please contact us at the address in Section 12. We are happy to address any questions in writing.
Your Rights & How to Exercise Them
Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable privacy laws. The following rights apply to all users:
- Right to Access: All data is visible directly in the App on the Dashboard, Water Level, History, and Settings screens
- Right to Rectification: Edit your water level and settings at any time within the App
- Right to Erasure: Delete records in-app, clear app storage via Android Settings, or uninstall

- Right to Object / Opt Out: Disable alerts, clear history, or uninstall at any time with no consequences
- Right to Non-Discrimination: Exercising any privacy right will not affect your App experience in any way
